Last week, between November 10th-12th, the Euro Floorball Tour was held in the Baltic hall in Malmö. During the tournament, the organisation for the WFC 2024 had the opportunity to present its sustainability work on two occasions – already at the Swedish Floorball Federation’s networking event for its partners on Thursday afternoon, and on Friday’s networking event organised by Skåne’s Floorball Association with a specific focus on sustainability.
The networking event hosted by the Swedish Floorball Federation began on Thursday with lunch and mingle. Following that, the program included presentations from the men’s national team, the city of Malmö, Skåne’s Floorball Association and, at last, the WFC 2024 organisation.
The next day, it was time for Skåne’s Floorball Association’s networking event and seminar: “Floorball and Sustainability – from Clubs to World Championships”. This was arranged in collaboration with the Swedish Floorball Federation, Visit Skåne and the city of Malmö. This networking event began with a focus on the floorball clubs Malmö FBC and Åstorp/Kvidinge IBS and how they work with sustainability today. Skåne’s Floorball Association then presented its work with school visits, which eventually led to the presentation of the WFC 2024’s sustainability work. The meeting ended with a lunch together and exciting floorball matches in the Baltic hall.
On both of these occasions, the organisation for the WFC 2024 had the opportunity to present how it works with sustainability matters. This includes participation in the EU project GAMES, which aims, among other things, to raise awareness and increase the adoption of climate change mitigation practices by key sports actors.
The WFC 2024’s sustainability work has many focus areas – we have high ambitions and are working towards making the championships a “Certified Sustainable Event”. You can read more about our sustainability work here: WFC 2024 – sustainability
